(Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump has overtaken Democratic rival Joe Biden to stand when the favorite to secure the 2020 U.S. Presidential election on Europe-based betting exchange Betfair, the exchange said on Wednesday.
Trump’s odds, reflecting wagers matched on the peer-to-peer betting network, stood at evens, Betfair Exchange stated, versus 21 20 for Biden.
Betfair Exchange said 4 bets of over 10,000 weight ($13,362) ended up being positioned on the wedge through the night, of what 3 were on Trump, while the greatest stake of the plan so considerably, a 50,000-pound choice, was put on the Republican nominee over the weekend.
These bets in part aided Trump to bring the lead, after being neck-and-neck with Biden earlier this week, completing an extraordinary improvement in the betting markets.
“In August, Trump had the most awful odds for re election of each sitting President in history and defeat to Biden was looking progressively more likely,” Darren Hughes, spokesperson at Flutter Entertainment system Betfair Exchange, said.
A Reuters/Ipsos national thoughts and opinions poll on Wednesday showed 40 % of registered voters guidance Trump, as opposed to forty seven % that said they will vote for Biden.
Biden’s lead is essentially unchanged with the previous three days, during which both individuals held conventions to nominate their candidates Trump and Biden for the presidency.
